Wow, that is so funny! I know everyone always says this about EVERY part of the country, but I honestly believe that GA drivers are some of the worst. I find myself reminiscing about how great KC is (and the driving there) a lot of the time, just because I hate Augusta so much. I completely understand the feeling of leaving "home" and coming back to find it completely changed... You and I are in such a strange situation, being the only members of our immediate family to have moved away. It's strange how you become accustomed to it. I'm sure you'd agree but now I real feel like now, my home is wherever Jim is.

My own "gravy train" period only got me about halfway into high school! I would definitely fall into the category of not necessarily "hating" but probably "jealous" a little. When I started my own weight loss plan I found that simply spending more time in the kitchen cooking my meals really helped satisfy my need for a meaningful relationship with my food, without having to gorge myself. I love your optimistic take on a healthier lifestyle...good luck and have fun!

I guess that's what all the trust-building and talking and sharing are for when they are little, so that whey they are grown up perhaps we will get to share the big stuff and have it help. I remember being amazed at some of the stuff (pretty tame stuff too) that I learned about my parents when we started to have conversations as mutual adults. I'm betting you did the right thing.

You made me cry, smile, laugh, and be grateful for having people like you in my life who share, are open, care about others as well as yourself. We forget that if we don't care for ourselves we cannot care for others. If we don't love ourselves, how can anyone else love us. this is the chant of military men at the sound of a command. We listen to it, imitate it with much machismo, however we usually don't understand why we chant this.
It really stands for Heard, Understood and Acknowledged=HUA.
I say that to shout out a HUA to you. I hear what you are saying, understand the relationship issues and heartfelt meaningfulness of them and want to Acknowledge you as a wonderful and meaningful part of my life experience.

I have definitely gone through the same sort of experience, minus the knocks of course, thank goodness. I actually attempted to read the entire Bible front to back at I think age 11 or 12. And of course the know-it-all teenage/young adult years which I fully realize I maybe am not entirely out of yet...but likewise, I feel the absence of spirituality in my life and it sucks! Now I'm just trying to find a way to reconcile the rational side of my brain with the side that wants to get back to being more spiritual. It's rough and I'd love to hear more about how you managed it. Love you Aunt Lis!
